Power & Transport - Copper Alloys - US

Specialists in alloys for transport and power generation

World-leading metallurgists and engineers at Copper Alloys take a single source from metal to machining and all associated parts, providing a complete solution to your problem…

… from aluminium alloys small enough to fit in your hand to complex components that you can walk through, we specialise in class-leading integrated engineering.

With 250 made-to-measure alloys available in over 170 varying formats, Copper Alloys adds unique value to the power and transport sector. Our technical team has over ten decades of combined metallurgical and industrial knowledge, transforming raw materials into finished components and even assisting with assembly.

We go the extra mile for our clients, working with you to meet your exact requirements. Our team ensures maximum material integrity and performance with power generation alloys designed to last much longer than standard alternatives.

Pushing the boundaries of power generation alloys with extraordinary engineering support

We have the expertise and technical know-how to meet the most stringent requirements. Our world-class metallurgists and engineers produce corrosion-resistant alloys for power generation and transport applications.

Converting raw materials into ground-breaking power and transport alloys, we pride ourselves on providing solutions to any problem.

Working closely with The European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), we have developed bespoke production techniques to meet their stringent and ever-demanding technical requirements. A previous project required the production of large copper forgings with extremely fine grain size and high electrical conductivity as part of a new set of superconductors.

Working with world-leading bearing makers, we have created an advanced engine bearing material that out-performs other alternatives. Its combination of extreme strength, wear-resistance and thermal conductivity means that the reliability and longevity of the engines is unparalleled, which is crucial in competitive racing.

Our power generation alloys, and forged metal components include…

Achieve the optimal balance of efficiency and performance by discussing your unique material requirements with our dedicated team of metallurgists.

World-class power and transport material selection

Copper Alloys has bridged the gap between conductivity and strength with a range of unique copper alloys. Through extreme material testing and failure analysis, our metallurgists and engineers develop products that are resilient to potential deterioration and therefore are expected to last much longer than standard alloys.

Our alloys made for the power and transport industries can be tailored to your specific application or environment. Our custom metals feature enhanced properties within existing specifications that maximise performance. Our range of Elite Bearing Alloys includes Freerun SL, a Leaded Phosphor Bronze available in hard wearing (SL 340), medium wearing (SL 300) and soft wearing (SL 240) with increasing self-lubrication and reducing yield strength.

Our selection of Elite Bearing Alloys also includes Freerun LW, a long wearing Phosphor Bronze alloy available in a range of formats made to order and ex-stock, such as bar, rings, tubes, and sections. These alloys are available in hard wearing (LW-600) and soft wearing (LW-400) with increasing tensile strength and reducing friction.

A single source for transport and power generation alloys

Certified by the British Standards Institution Quality Register to ISO 9001: 2015 AS9100, Copper Alloys produces complex, world-class materials and components that promise to stand the test of time. Our approach to complete quality management enables us to create and supply products that will provide the best value throughout their lifetime.

Our rigorous on-site testing prevents wasted materials whilst ensuring high performance and integrity. With years of project experience in both transport and power, our custom solutions allow us to understand specifications and requirements in every stage of the production process.

Our team is committed to meeting agreed delivery dates, no matter how pressing. We have used many resources to develop a Quality Management System that minimises risk and ensures commitments are realistic. With adept experience in supporting the power and transport industry, Copper Alloys works with some of the world’s most advanced engineering organisations. We design and manufacture alloys for applications in power generation and transport of any shape or scale, including bars, forgings, rings, and pipes.

Tested in extreme environments through failure analysis, each material promises to exceed your expectations.
